Brittany Phillips, MSW, LICSW
Brittany Phillips is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who obtained her Master of Social Work degree from The University of Alabama in May 2015 and her Bachelor of Social Work degree in May 2012. She has experience working and serving individuals with chronic mental illness, experiencing homelessness, substance abuse issues, grief/loss, providing group therapy/psychoeducation in a day treatment program, and connecting caregivers to resources, education, and clinical support.
Brittany is enthusiastic about mental health and all things self-care. She believes that doing the inner work is beneficial to your overall health, well-being, relationships, and work-life balance. In addition to her passion for mental health wellness, she loves traveling, online shopping, quality time with family and friends, and anything that includes LOTS OF LAUGHTER!
Brittany is honored to serve her clients, the community, and to be a change agent for the beautiful souls she has the opportunity to encounter daily.
Brittney Joiner is an intern at Perception Counseling Service seeking to obtain her Master's at the University of North Alabama (UNA) in Social Work. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor's in Social Work.
Mrs. Joiner has a profound passion for assisting families, couples, and individuals to navigate through life challenges. Her goal is to become a Licensed Master Social Worker to create a supportive space where individuals and families feel heard, understood, and empowered. She strives to foster an environment that encourages open communication, trust, and collaboration while facilitating growth and resilience. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching movies and writing.
Brittney Joiner, Graduate Social Work Intern
Quincy Pearson, MSW, LICSW
Quincy Pearson is a licensed master social worker. He attended The University of Alabama, where he obtained both his Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Social Work. His studies were focused on children and their families. While attending The University of Alabama, he completed an internship with Tuscaloosa County Juvenile Court & Probation. He later completed an international internship in Ghana, Africa at the Save Them Young Orphanage.
Over the years, Quincy has served as a mental health therapist within a correctional facility. He also served a as mental health professional in a health care center serving at-risk youth with social, behavioral and emotional issues. He has experience providing school-based mental health therapy and providing services to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Overall, he has gained 10+ years of working with children, adolescent, and their families. He is passionate about helping his clients thrive by restoring their mental health and wellness through education, advocacy, and empowerment.
He enjoys listening to music, watching anime, traveling, learning new skills, and hanging out with his family and friends.
Ruth Latham, MSW, LICSW
Ruth Latham received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Mississippi State University (2015) and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Alabama (2018).
Ruth was genuinely led to Social Work because originally, she wanted to pursue law. Ruth has enjoyed working with children for 10+ years, and she been a mental health therapist for 3 1/2 years. She finds joy in aiding children in learning about themselves and their emotions, so they are better able to function in the world around them.
Ruth enjoys praying, practicing yoga and meditating, and loves to teach her clients how to become mindful of their thoughts and behaviors. Ruth looks forward to working with your child to help them grow into the person they desire to be.
Vanessa Gulley, Graduate Intern
Vanessa Gulley is an intern at Perception Counseling Center seeking to obtain her Master’s at the University of West Alabama (UWA) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her goal is to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) specializing in mental health issues, grief/loss, trauma, and family.
Ms. Gulley obtained my Bachelor’s in Psychology from UWA and has been working in the mental health field going on my 5th year. Her experience includes working with high risk mentally ill clients in residential and outpatient behavioral health facilities, where her duties involved helping clients that are homeless become mentally healthy, find housing, and gain skills to live and function independently in the community.
Vanessa's passions include dancing, singing, and traveling/trying new things with family and friends. She truly believes that ultimate healing starts in your mind. Ms. Vanessa Gulley can’t wait to aide others on their journey of healing.
Brandi Mount graduated with an Associate Degree in Office Administration, Bookkeeping and Accounting from Shelton State Community College. She will continue to pursue her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Alabama in Spring 2023. Brandi has worked in the Tuscaloosa area for over 15 years.
Brandi's display of computer skills, attention to details, and commitment to providing clients with the best experience at PCS is superior. She is hardworking, personable, and dependable. Brandi has an active 10-year-old daughter and close family network. She enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
